Arthur Terry Charity Week!
During the week Monday 11th – Friday 15th March, House Activities Co-ordinators Messrs Peel and Glazebrook, in conjunction with Assistant Headteacher Mr Carrick, organised a programme of charity events, to time with the annual Comic Relief fundraiser and in support of Stonewall, a charity that promotes equality for people of all sexual orientations.
The week’s events kicked off on the Tuesday with an incredibly popular joke wall, the best jokes from which, will be shared at next half-term’s activities coordinator’s assembly.
Wednesday offered tutor groups and individual students, the chance to get creative and design their very own Red nose.
Thursday lunchtime proved a very popular event, with students paying a pound to tear a wax strip off the legs of their favourite male teachers! The brave staff prepared to subject themselves to such discomfort were Messers Peel, Tromans, Hughes, Bradley, Johal, Blunt & Bradshaw.
Finally on Friday, Red Nose day itself, students were encouraged to wear something red in exchange for a one pound donation whilst also dressing up willing tutors in amusing fancy dress attire, again in exchange for a small donation.
In all, the charity week events raised a staggering £1,550 – congratulations everybody!
